Player of the Year
Nelson Hannahs Fallston
The senior was "one of the more technically sound defenders I have coached," Fallston coach Matt Parks said. "Very steady and the three years he has started at long pole and defense I have never once worried about the matchup."
Hannahs and defenders John Lawhon and Dave New led a defense that allowed less than five goals per game in front of junior goalie Brad Motley. "Usually, Nelson is matched with the top offensive threat of the opposing team, whether it is a midfielder or an attackman," Parks said. "Nelson plays on the wing of almost every faceoff, and when not on the wing, we usually use him to face off when we're not successful with our short sticks."
Bound for McDaniel College, Hannahs' career numbers include 260 ground balls over the past two seasons, two goals and three assists and a faceoff winning percentage of nearly .450. Hannahs was penalized only three times for 2.5 minutes this season.
Coach of the Year
Matt Parks Fallston
Although the Cougars fell short of winning the Class 3A-2A state title after a 6-3 loss to Glenelg in the final, Parks nevertheless, guided them to an impressive season.
Fallston posted an 18-2 record that included victories over Archbishop Curley, the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference champion The win over Curley came on the heels of the Friars' victory over five-time 4A-3A champion Dulaney. The Cougars' defense allowed less than five goals per game.
Offensively, Fallston dominated Harford County rivals with a balanced attack of sophomore Pat Mull (16 goals, 51 assists), junior Luke Raab (34,17) and senior Chad Palmer (38, 10), and midfielders Tim Gill (21, 14) and Ben Hoganson (25, three).
