Gilman linebacker Melvin Keihn has been selected to play in the seventh annual Under Armour All-America High School Football Game Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Keihn is the fourth Greyhound to be chosen for the national senior all-star game following Darius Jennings, Cyrus Jones Jr. and Henry Poggi.

A first-team All-Metro defensive end last season, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Keihn is rated a 4-star linebacker by rivals.com and the overall No. 7 recruit in Maryland's high school football Class of 2014. He also plays defensive end for the No. 1 Greyhounds, who will be aiming for their third straight Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championships when they travel to No. 2 McDonogh Saturday at 1 p.m. for the 98th meeting between the two programs.

Keihn has narrowed his college list to five: Virginia, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Maryland and Miami. Most are recruiting him as an outside linebacker, said Gilman assistant coach Henry Russell.

Gilman's history in the Under Armour All-America game began with Jennings in 2011. Now a wide receiver at Virginia, Jennings had to sit out the Under Armour game after suffering a concussion in the Chesapeake Bowl the previous week.

Jones, an Alabama cornerback, played in the 2012 game and Poggi, a defensive tackle at Michigan, played in the most recent game last January.
