Gilman soccer standout Sam Wancowicz, an All-Metro first-team forward-defender last year as a junior, has committed to the University of Pennsylvania.
Splitting time at forward and center back, he finished with 13 goals and eight assists to lead the Greyhounds to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship game last year.
As a three-year starter going into his senior year, Wancowicz, who is also a member of the Baltimore Celtic Soccer Club, has helped lead Gilman to three straight conference championship games with one title.
