Gilman defensive tackle Henry Poggi has been listed as the No. 43 recruit in the nation in the Class of 2013 by Rivals.com.
A four-star lineman, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound son of Greyhounds coach Biff Poggi earned first-team All-Metro honors last fall after making 49 tackles, 11 for a loss, and finishing the season with 10 sacks.
Poggi played both ways as the No. 1 Greyhounds won the first MIAA A Conference championship game. He doubled as a tight end and had 100 receiving yards and 19 pancake blocks.
Poggi has scholarship offers from such programs as Alabama, Auburn, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, West Virginia and Iowa, where his brother Jim plays.
Poggi is the only player from the Baltimore area listed in Rivals' top 100 juniors. There are two other players from Maryland, both from Good Counsel: No. 4 recruit Kendall Fuller, a five-star defensive back, and No. 37 Dorian O'Daniel, a four-star linebacker.
Rivals pegs five-star defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, from Loganville, Ga., as the top recruit in the Class of 2013.
