PLAYER OF THE YEAR

KRISTEN MALLOY
Hereford

Malloy had a great season last year before finishing third in the state meet. This year was much different. She set a meet record at the Bull Run Invitational for the second straight year and had a nearly perfect season. The junior capped it by winning the Baltimore County, regional and Class 3A state titles.

She was challenged once again in the state meet, needing a strong kick in the final .1 of a mile to outlast Howard's Elyse Borisko, who had finished second in last year's race.
COACH OF THE YEAR

DONNIE MICKEY
C. Milton Wright

After his team struggled in the state meet last year,Mickey vowed that this year would be different. He was right. Led by first-team All-Metro pick Sara Bailey, the Mustangs scored an impressive victory in the Class 4A state title meet, edging longtime power Eleanor Roosevelt of Prince George's County by one point.

Mickey kept his team on pace all season and made sure the Mustangs didn't peak too early.
