Four locals among student-athlete Minds in Motion scholarship winners

Four Baltimore-area student-athletes are among 13 winners of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association's Minds in Motion Scholarships -- Hereford's Erin Causey, Broadneck's Connor Joyce, Poly's Stelios Mastoras and Loch Raven's Emma Norman.

Presented for the seventh year, the Minds In Motion awards honor excellence on the field and in the classroom. Students must maintain a minumum 3.25 unweighted GPA and play at least one interscholastic sport to be considered.

The winners, who receive $1,000 scholarships, will be hnored at a luncheon in the Ravens locker room at M&T Bank Stadium on May 29.

The other winners: Daniel Beck, Stephen Decatur; Emma Gerhold, Smithsburg; Brianna Hite, Calvert; Isabella Huang, Richard Montgomery; Ryan LeTourneau, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jared Lichtman, Blair; Ciara Marshall, North East; Warren Staver, Queen Anne's; and Kayla Truesdel, Wise.
