Former Archbishop Curley star Oumar Ballo was selected in the second round of the Major League Soccer Superdraft on Thursday.

The 30th overall pick by the Houston Dynamo, Ballo was a three-year starter at UMBC and the program's first two-time All-America selection. This season, he was the main cog on defense as the Retrievers (14-6-5) reached the College Cup for the first time in program history.

They posted upset wins over ranked Wake Forest, Maryland and Louisville -- all shutouts -- before losing to Virginia in the semifinals, 1-0.  Soccer America named Ballo to its Men's College MVP first team.

Ballo enjoyed a stellar four-year career at Curley and was a three-time All-Metro first-team selection. The Dynamo made a trade with Sporting Kansas City to move up in the draft to select Ballo.
