Catholic's Gonzalez finishes 12th at Nike Cross Nationals

Catholic's Ellie Gonzalez had the best local performance from an area runner at Saturday's Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Ore., finishing 12th in the race.

Gonzalez finished in 17:52.1, while Dulaney's Isabel Griffith ran 18:28.3 to finish 52nd in the same race.

For the boys, a group from Severna Park's cross country team -- this event doesn't count as an official event for schools -- qualified together and finished in 13th place overall out of the 22 teams in Portland.

Ryan Forsyth led the way with his 52nd place finish in 15:48. Loyola's Tyler Spear (72nd) qualified individually and ran 16:01.
