All-Carroll County: Girls track

Performer of the Year

Jess Huber, North Carroll

The senior came through again in the pole vault. Huber won her third consecutive indoor state championship, taking the Class 4A title last month. That's her fourth state title overall, having won one outdoors last spring. She also helped North Carroll out in other ways, taking second in the 55-meter hurdles in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League Chesapeake Division meet, where the Panthers finished one-half point behind champion Thomas Johnson.

Coach of the Year

Rob Pennington, South Carroll

Pennington's been working on building a strong team the past few years by getting athletes who can compete in sprints, distance and field events. That's what the Cavaliers had this winter, and it's why the girls finished third in the state in Class 1A. South Carroll found ways to score points while developing talent.
