Coach of the Year
Bernie Koontz
,
Winters Mill
Koontz led his team to a perfect regular season, as the Falcons captured Carroll County and Monocacy Valley Athletic League Blue Ridge Conference titles before advancing to the Class 2A state semifinals. Though the season ended with a one-point loss to eventual state champ Mount Hebron, it is widely regarded as the best in county history. The Falcons won six games by 25 points or more, but also showed the ability to pull out close games, beating Middletown, Walkersville, Francis Scott Key and Century by a combined 11 points. Koontz now has led his team to regional titles twice in the past four years.
