Calvert Hall wide reciever Lawrence Cager committed to Miami Saturday, making his announcement at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
During the live broadcast on NBC, Cager donned a Hurricanes cap, selecting Miami over Alabama, Georgia and Virginia Tech.
In October when he was invited to the senior all-star game, Cager said he was most looking forward to making his commitment on television, but he also made a big play in the game.
Just before halftime, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound receiver caught a bomb from Tampa Bay Tech quarterback Deon Cain for a 54-yard touchdown. He used his height to catch the ball over the defender and raced the final 15 yards to the end zone.
His East team, however, fell to the West, 39-36, at the 15th annual Army Bowl at the Alamodome.
Cager, who also cleared 6 feet 9 in the indoor high jump this season, is rated a three-star prospect and the No. 44 wide receiver in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.com.
Last summer, he was the only Baltimore player to attend The Opening, the annual Nike showcase for the nation's elite high school football players, in Beaverton, Ore.
