Calvert Hall boys basketball beats Gonzaga in third-place game

Calvert Hall overcame a 26-17 deficit after the first quarter to beat host Gonzaga, 75-74, in the third place game of the Gonzaga DC Classic on Sunday.

Senior guard Drew Edwards scored 34 points as the No. 1 Cardinals outscored their opponent, 58-48, after the first period. Nico Clareth added 15 points and TJ Duckett scored 10.

Calvert Hall (6-2) had a chance to play in the tournament championship going into Saturday's game against Roman Catholic (Pa.), but lost 78-56.

Also on Sunday, No. 15 Mount Carmel (7-4) beat Riverdale Baptist, 63-61, in the tournament's fifth place game. Will Jenkins scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds.
