Broadneck grad Greene named national scholar-athlete

Maryland freshman kicker Adam Greene, last year's All-Metro kicker from Broadneck, is one of five football players to win a 2013 National High School Scholar-Athlete Award from the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.

In March, Greene was one of four winners at the 50th Annual Scholar Athlete Awards presented by the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the NFF. He will be honored with the national award at the NFF Chapter Awards Luncheon Dec. 10 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

At Broadneck, Greene had a 4.52 weighted GPA and earned 43 hours of college credits through Advanced Placement courses. He is a five-time Carson Scholar and was a national AP scholar.

On the field, he set a state record for the most field goals in a career with 27 and broke every Broadneck and Anne Arundel County place kicking record. A two-time All-State selection, he was rated the top place kicker in the Class of 2013 by Rivals.com.
