St. Maria Goretti senior Martin Geben, who was named the 2012-13 Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year, verbally committed to play basketball at Notre Dame recently.
Geben, a 6-foot-9 native of Lithuania, averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds in his junior season at St. Maria Goretti.
Geben becomes the second BCL Player of the Year to commit to Notre Dame in recent years. Former Mount St. Joseph standout guard Eric Atkins, who was a two-time recipient of the award, is a senior starting point guard for the Fighting Irish.
