Basketball Academy moved to Lake Clifton

The 16th Annual Basketball Academy has been moved for a second time and will now be played at Lake Clifton High School.

All 20 games — featuring boys and girls teams — will still be played Thursday through Saturday, although there are some time changes. Tickets already sold will be honored.

The Academy had been originally scheduled for Coppin State University, but new NCAA regulations caused some confusion and resulted in the tournament being moved to Morgan State University on Tuesday.

On Wednesday night, Bob Wade, coordinator of athletics for the Baltimore City Public Schools, said the same NCAA rule forced the last-minute move from Morgan to Lake Clifton. The games will now be played in two different gyms at Lake Clifton with game times staggered.

This year's Academy features two No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdowns. The No. 1 Dunbar boys will take on No. 2 Milford Mill Thursday at 8 p.m.  The No. 1 Aberdeen girls will now play No. 2 Digital Harbor Friday at 4 p.m.  The game was originally scheduled for 4:15.
