Excessive heat caused Baltimore County and Baltimore City schools to close early Wednesday. (WJZ Video)
In Baltimore City and Baltimore County, games are canceled and practices postponed Wednesday because heat forced public school officials to close schools two hours early.
It's the second straight day that Baltimore County officials have closed schools early because of the combination of high heat and humidity and some schools that don't have air conditioning.
When schools close early, all after-school activities are canceled, including sports.
Private and public schools that usually follow Baltimore County or Baltimore County's lead on weather-related closings are making their own decisions.
Mount Saint Joseph, Seton Keough, Archbishop Curley and Catholic are also closing early but some athletic events will go on as scheduled, including the soccer match between No. 3 Loyola and No. 4 Curley at Curley at 4 p.m.
Check with the school for details about other events.
