Baltimore Catholic League Hall of Fame banquet set for May 3

The Baltimore Catholic League, one of the most storied boys basketball leagues in the country, will induct nine players, one coach, one contributor and one pathfinder at its annual Hall of Fame Banquet, set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City.

The nine players to be inducted are Norman Black, Cardinal Gibbons, 1975; Keon Chavez, St. Frances, 1995; Jeff Cross, Mount Saint Joseph, 1976; Paul Feeley, Loyola Blakefield, 1971; Rodney Gibson, St. Maria Goretti, 2001; Leroy Keller, Archbishop Curley, 1980; Danny Robinson, Towson Catholic, 1991; Derrick Snowden, Archbishop Spalding, 2000; and James "Pop" Tubman, Calvert Hall, 1982.

Legendary St. Frances coach William Wells also will be inducted, along with Cardinal Gibbons graduates Pat Maggio (1969) as a contributor, and Gene Fugget (1968) as a pathfinder.

St. Joseph University men's basketball coach Phil Martelli will be the ceremony's keynote speaker. Paul McMullen will be the emcee.

The banquet is open to the public for the first time with tickets limited. Cost is $75 per person or $750 per table of 10.
