Girl Athlete of the Week (March 20): Frances Glover-Bey, Pikesville, basketball

In a season of firsts for the Panthers, the junior guard has been the constant defensive spark. In the team’s 61-31 win over Smithsburg on Saturday to secure the program’s first Class 1A state title, Glover-Bey was much more. She finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, both career highs in her three varsity seasons, while also chipping in with one assist, one steal and one block. For the season, Glover-Bey averaged seven points, three assists and three steals per game. Before claiming the state title, Pikesville captured its first Baltimore County championship with a 53-30 win over Western Tech.

Others considered: Izzy Marsh, McDonogh, lacrosse; Anhyia Smith, River Hill, basketball
