The senior guard became only the ninth girl in the Baltimore area to score 2,000 career points when she posted a triple double in Friday night’s victory at North Hagerstown.
DeWees (5 feet 8) needed 26 points to reach the milestone and scored 30, to go with 12 rebounds and 10 steals, to lead the Mavericks to a 63-52 win over the Hubs.
A two-time All-Metro second-team selection, DeWees became Carroll County’s all-time leading scorer on Jan. 10, eclipsing the 1,782-point record set by North Carroll’s Caitlin Bach in 2010. She made it despite missing four games this winter with a sprained ankle.
Last week, she also surpassed 1,000 career rebounds when she grabbed eight in a 49-33 win over South Carroll. In that game, she also had 27 points, four assists and three steals.
DeWees, who has signed to play for Quinnipiac, is a veteran of the Central Maryland Attitude Amateur Athletic Union team.
She averages 25.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 8.2 steals and 4.1 assists per game for the Mavericks (16-3), who are in second place behind undefeated Westminster in the Carroll County league.
