All-Metro girls cross country team 2016

Emily Beyer

Mount Hebron, junior

- Made a dramatic improvement this fall from last year

- Finished fifth in the Class 3A state meet after taking second in the East region and second in the Howard County championship meet

- Placed second in the Gunpowder Invitational

- Took fifth in the Hood College High School Invitational

Anna Coffin

Annapolis, sophomore

- Maria Coffin's younger sister is growing into one of the state's top distance runners

- Ended the season with a fourth-place finish in the Class 4A state title meet in a race her sister won

- Took second in the Anne Arundel County meet — behind Maria — and fourth in the Class 4A East region race

- Won the Doc Jones Invitational

Emily Craig

Maryvale, senior

- Was a big part of Maryvale winning a second consecutive Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship

- Last year's champion, Craig just missed this season, finishing second by 4.68 seconds to the Cavaliers' Lacey Eden

- Took fourth place in the Gunpowder Invitational

- Hopes to attend Navy in the fall

Haley Cummins

C.M. Wright, freshman

- Burst onto the scene with a spectacular freshman season and become a strong runner

- Won the Class 3A state title, taking the race in 18 minutes, 41.6 seconds

- Earned victories in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference championship meet and the Class 3A North region race

- Won the Harford County Invite

Lacey Eden

Archbishop Spalding, freshman

- Turned in a great freshman season as the Cavaliers took second in the IAAM A Conference

- Cross country might not be her best sport: Eden is a tremendous ice hockey player

- Turned in a strong performance to beat Craig and win the conference title meet in 19:05.75

- Took second at the Spiked Shoe Invitational

Kamryn Eveleth

Severna Park, sophomore

- Ran well last year as a freshman and improved this season

- Finished with a fifth-place finish in the Class 4A state title race

- Took third in the Class 4A East region and fourth in the Anne Arundel County title races

- Won the Gunpowder Invitational

Courtney Mann

Howard, senior

- Had a good junior season last fall but moved up a level this year

- Closed the season with her eighth-place finish in the Class 4A state meet against a tough field

- Finished third in the Class 4A North region race and fifth in the Howard County title meet

- Won the Howard County Invitational

Jasmine Tiamfook

River Hill, junior

- Has been one of the area's top distance runners the past few years

- Closed the season with a seventh-place finish in the Class 3A state meet

- Won the Howard County (18:48.9) and the Class 3A East region (19:09.5) meets

- Finished fourth in the Howard County Invitational

Kelly Wesolowski

Hereford, senior

- Helped Hereford win a second straight Class 2A state championship

- Finished second in the state meet that Hereford won by 40 points

- Won the Baltimore County championship

- Earned another victory in the Gettysburg Invitational
