Annapolis Area Christian School and its partners may be small schools but they have raised big money for breast cancer research in the last four years. This year's Pink Out raised more than $14,000. Basketball teams from Glenelg Country School and St. John's Catholic Prep joined those from AACS in the Eagles' Fourth Annual Pink Out last weekend.
Following is from a news release sent from AACS:
"Pledges and donations are still coming in and the final projection is to be in the vicinity of $16,000 raised. Saturday's action consisted of five middle school games between Glenelg and AACS, a JV girls' game between St. John's and AACS, a JV boys' game between Glenelg and AACS, as well as varsity girls' and boys' games between AACS and Glenelg. AACS won the varsity girls contest 48-29. Glenelg won the varsity boys' 47-46.
Over 800 fans supported this year's event. Dr. Barry Meisenberg of the DeCesaris Cancer Institute spoke at half time of the varsity girls' game. He expressed gratitude to Grace Mercer, the AACS alumna who founded the event, and to all the schools who have participated over the last four years. Breast cancer survivors in attendance were recognized and signed the pink game ball at the conclusion of the event. To date, the event raised over $36,000 for breast cancer research.
Donations will still be accepted through Feb. 17. Contact Jim Domoracki, Director of Athletics at AACS, for more information. He can be reached at 410-519-5300."
