Seven local girls lacrosse players were added in the final wave of selections for the 10th anuual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game July 3 at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Bryn Mawr's Alex Argo, McDonogh's Kelsey Cummings, Century's Shelby Mercer and Kristen Yanchoris, Archbishop Spalding's Alexis Phillips, Glenelg's Megan Taylor and Severn's Caroline Steele were added in the last of four waves, bringing to 44 the number of seniors selected for the game. They will be split into North and South teams.
In addition the 44 girls in the game, all of the seniors on the U.S. Under-19 national team that will play for the world championship this summer in Edinburgh, Scotland, were named Under Armour All-Americans. Those include Roland Park's Francesca Whitehurst and Maryvale's Miranda Ibello. New US Lacrosse rules, however, prohibit their participation in the All-America game.
