Prep Roundup: Matthews scores 22 to lead Arundel girls

Ayannah Matthews poured in 22 points and Nikki Seven added 10 points to lead the Arundel girls basketball team to a 70-61 victory over Takoma Academy on Tuesday.
Arianna Harmon chipped in with eight points, while Heather Middleton and Brandy Middleton each scored seven points for Arundel (2-0).
St. Timothy’s 44, St. Mary’s 30: Karry Kelliher scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, but the Saints fell to St. Timothy’s. Ashley Roy tallied eight points for St. Mary’s (3-2).
Rockbridge 44, Perry Hall Christian 20: Alanna Craig tallied 18 points, 12 rebounds and five steals and Vivian Grev added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals as the Scots rolled past the Panthers.
Sarah Williams chipped in with eight points, five rebounds and a steal for Rockbridge Academy.
Glen Burnie 51, Chesapeake S. P. 45: Da’Von Paris netted 19 points and seven rebounds and Tyrone Cropper added 15 points and four assists as the Gophers (1-1) got by the Tigers.
Adeyinka Oyemade posted a game-high 27 points and Seeni Akinrodemi pitched in with nine points for Chesapeake Science Point.
Chapelgate Christian 54, Severn 53: Ian Munroe scored 15 points and Adam Angwafo added 12 points, but the Admirals were beaten by a shot with eight seconds left in regulation by the Yellow Jackets.
Baylin Groff provided eight points for Severn.
St. Mary’s 70, South River 52: Jacob Aryee scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Mike Parme hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 21 points and three rebounds in the Saints’ victory on Monday.
Atholton 75, Meade 65: TJ Speight tallied 22 points, five rebounds and two assists and Corey Williams pitched in with 10 points, but the Mustangs fell to the Raiders on the road on Monday.
Omar Beattie chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds for Meade (1-1).
Calvert 65, Arundel 62: Isaiah Nelson led the Wildcats with 18 points in Monday’s narrow loss. Quaadir Spence and Tyson Brooks had 13 points apiece and Taj Wooten chip in 12 points for Arundel (0-2).
Archbishop Spalding 62, Pallotti 60: Sophomore C.J. Scott (21 points) and Cam Whitmore (15 points) led Monday’s come-from-behind win for the Cavaliers, who were down by as many as 19 points in the second half.
Annapolis 45, Broadneck 29: Tate Scott (132), Nate Ditmars (138), Craig Erwin (145), Dimitri Sfakiyanudis (182), Brandon Jackson (195), Kyle Leming (220) and Alex Ditto (285) all won with falls as the Panthers took down the Bruins. Jake Leming (170) won with a decision for Annapolis (2-0).
Annapolis 66, Glen Burnie 6: Jaden Craig (120), Aidan Heim (126), Nate Ditmars (138) and Max Lucas (152) each won with a pin, while Kevin VanBiesen (113) and Jake Leming (170) won with decisions as the Panthers defeated the Gophers.
Broadneck 81, Glen Burnie 0: Will Donhoe (113), Dylan Rupert (152) and Giavon Meiklejohn (160), among others, won with pins as the Bruins (1-1) handled the Gophers (0-2).
South River 55, Arundel 21: Diego Steiner (106), Adam Lake (138 and Clint Mills (170) each recorded a pin, but the Wildcats fell to the Seahawks.
South River 70, Meade 9: Kallen Thomas (138) registered a pin and Gavin Cunningham (152) won by decision for the Mustangs in their loss to the Seahawks.
Arundel 75, Meade 9: Diego Steiner (106), Angel Borges (113), Ryan Mitchell (126), Caleb Chaves (132), Adam Lake (138), Joey McCampbell (145), Clint Mills (170), Dillon Primrose (220) and Amir Conwell (285) each earned victories as the Wildcats defeated the Mustangs.
Gavin Cunningham (152) won with a pin and Sara Ullery (113) scored a 13-10 decision for Meade.

Severn Boys 98, Beth Tfiloh 62: David Fitzgerald won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Jack Keith won the 200 individual medley, Will Oliver touched first in the 100 butterfly and Andrew Campbell took first in the 100 freestyle as the Admirals swam past the Warriors.
The 200 medley relay team of Campbell, Keith, Oliver and Ryan McNemar, along with the 200 freestyle relay team of Fitzgerald, Will Klepper, Hayden Gargagliano and Andrew Campbell, both won their events.
Severn Girls 92, Beth Tfiloh 39: Caroline DiPaola finished first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle, Erin Hooper won the 50 freestyle and 100 breast stroke, Sarah Gershman took first in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle, while Anna Erskine placed first in the 200 freestyle and Caitlyn Given won the 100 backstroke as the Admirals won every event in defeating the Warriors.
The three relay teams, consisting of Given, Hooper, Gershman and Jewel Barner (200 medley), Tristan Bullock, Michaela Leikin, Layne Bullock and Barner (200 freestyle) and Erskine, Morgan Mooradian, Tristan Bullock and DiPaola (400 freestyle) were all victorious for Severn.
