Maryland had its largest draft class since 2009 over the weekend with three selections in the top five rounds. Defensive back Sean Davis was the headliner after Pittsburgh selected him in the second round, and he was followed by defensive end Yannick Ngakoue in the third round to Jacksonville and defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson to Seattle in the fifth.
There were a few former Terps, most notably kicker Brad Craddock, who went undrafted and are looking for homes as free agents or at least the opportunity to try out. And since the dust has settled after the draft ended Saturday, there's a little clarity as to where they'll get a chance.
Teams haven't officially announced undrafted free agent signings yet, so nothing will be official until players pass physicals and sign contracts before rookie minicamps.
>> Craddock announced on Twitter he's heading to Cleveland. The Browns already have kicker Travis Coons, a former undrafted free agent out of Washington, on their roster, which gives the 2014 Lou Groza Award winner a chance to compete for a roster spot. Coons made 28 of 32 field goals with a long of 47 yards and 22 of 24 extra point attempts last season.
>> Offensive lineman Andrew Zeller announced on Facebook he'll get a chance with Detroit. After Maryland's pro day in March, Zeller said he surprised the scouts in attendance and made an impression with his athleticism. Former Maryland coach Randy Edsall is director of football research/special projects with the Lions.
>> The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Minnesota will pick up running back Brandon Ross. Ross joins former Maryland teammate Stefon Diggs, who is coming off an impressive rookie season with the Vikings. Ross averaged 6.4 yards per carry for the Terps last seasons.
