Former star Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team after a standout first season with the Minnesota Vikings.

Diggs, a fifth-round draft pick, caught 52 passes for 720 yards and four touchdowns. He led the Vikings in catches and yards even though he was inactive for the first three games of the season. He quickly emerged as a favorite target for Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with at least six catches in each of his first four games.

He had two 100-yard games, and he scored two touchdowns in a Dec. 20 win over the Chicago Bears.

Diggs led Maryland with 62 catches for 792 yards and five touchdowns in his junior season in 2014, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors. Diggs was a former five-star recruit out of Good Counsel in the Class of 2012 who elected to play for the Terps over offers from other high-profile schools such as Ohio State.
