Trio of co-starters at quarterbacks highlights Maryland depth chart

Daxx Garman, Perry Hills and Caleb Rowe were listed as co-starters at quarterback on the depth chart released by Maryland ahead of Saturday's matchup at No. 1 Ohio State.

"Everybody's in play there," coach Randy Edsall said Sunday. He also said the starter could be a gametime decision.

Rowe, who has started the past three games, was benched in the second half of Maryland's 28-0 loss to Michigan for the second straight week. He's thrown a Football Bowl Subdivision-high 12 interceptions and completed 44 percent of his passes this season.

Hills won the job out of camp and started the first two games. He was 27 of 51 for 306 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions before he was replaced by Rowe.

Garman, the Oklahoma State transfer, has struggled in his two relief appearances of Rowe. He's 6 of 18 for 115 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Terps are currently 33-point underdogs against the reigning national champion Buckeyes, according to VegasInsider.com.

Other moves on Maryland's depth chart:

> Freshman tight end Avery Edwards, who has emerged as a reliable receiving option, is listed as a co-starter along with P.J. Gallo and Derrick Hayward. Edwards has appeared in all five games this season and has nine catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Hayward has made two starts and has two catches for 10 yards. Gallo has one start.

> Junior defensive tackle Azubuike Ukandu is listed as a starter on the defensive line next to redshirt junior Quinton Jefferson. Ukandu started in place of sophomore David Shaw, who is out for the year with an elbow injury, against Michigan. Ukandu's backup is listed as sophomore Kingsley Opara. Jefferson's backup is listed as junior Cavon Walker, who slides over from defensive end.

> The Terps took a hit at outside linebacker against Michigan with injuries to Jefferson Ashiru and Brett Zanotto. Sophomore Jalen Brooks slides over from the strong side to the weak side, and senior Avery Thompson moves into the starting lineup on the strong side. Freshman Isaiah Davis will back up Brooks, while junior Denzel Conyers will back up Thompson after moving from safety to outside linebacker.
