Last season, Maryland faced off with two top-25 teams ranked at the times of the matchup and didn't fare too well, dropping games to then-No. 20 Ohio State — the eventual national champions — and then No. 12 Michigan State.

With the release of the Associated Press' preseason top 25 on Sunday, the Terps are looking at matchups with three ranked teams and three others receiving votes. Maryland will face the No. 1 Buckeyes, who were tabbed as the first-ever unanimous top-ranked team in the poll's history, on Oct. 10 in Columbus, followed up a homecoming tilt with No. 20 Wisconsin on Nov. 7 and a trip to No. 5 Michigan State on Nov. 14.

Maryland went 0-3 against those teams last season, losing by an average score of 47-15.

Penn State, West Virginia and Michigan all received votes in the preseason poll. The Terps will face the Nittany Lions on Oct. 24 in Baltimore, the Mountaineers on Sept. 26 in Morgantown, W.Va., and the Wolverines on Oct. 3 in College Park in new coach John Harbaugh's Big Ten debut. Maryland went 2-1 against those teams last season, winning close games at Penn State and Michigan and losing in the final seconds against West Virginia.

TCU, Alabama, and Baylor join Ohio State and Michigan State in the top five. Maryland hasn't been ranked in the AP top 25 since late September 2013 when it carried the No. 25 ranking into a matchup at Florida State, which it lost, 63-0.
