Maryland Gameday Digest: South Florida

Maryland fell flat against Bowling Green in Week 2 with a humbling 48-27 loss. Now South Florida visits Byrd Stadium in a rematch of a 24-17 Terps win a year ago. The Bulls are coming off a 34-14 loss at Florida State in which they hung tough early.

Last week: Bowling Green blitzed Maryland late in a 48-27 loss. South Florida hung tough with Florida State early but fell 34-14.

Maryland players to watch: Quarterback Caleb Rowe is making his first start since October 2013 as the Terps try to improve their passing game. Wide receivers Taivon Jacobs and D.J. Moore are also expected to start in an attempt to stretch the field. Defensively, the Maryland defensive line, including defensive tackles Quinton Jefferson and David Shaw, could have its hands full against the South Florida running game.

South Florida players to watch: Running back Marlon Mack was the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year last season and he's rushed for 214 yards so far this season. Quarterback Quinton Flowers is a dual threat in the Bulls' uptempo, spread offense. On defense, safety Jamie Byrd ranked 20th in the nation with 5.9 solo tackles per game last season.
