Maryland's game at Florida International in September has been moved to Friday, Sept. 9, the school announced Wednesday. It was previously scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10.
Kickoff time is to be announced, but the move means Maryland avoids playing consecutive Saturday afternoon games in Florida. The Terps visit Central Florida in Orlando the week after playing FIU in Miami.
Maryland hasn't played on a Friday since the 2013 Military Bowl, when the Terps lost to Marshall. Maryland hasn't played a regular season game on a day other than Saturday since the Terps defeated Miami, 32-24, on Labor Day in 2011. That was the first game of former coach Randy Edsall's tenure.
Maryland is 4-0 all-time against FIU. The Terps beat the Panthers, 43-10, in their 2013 season opener, and they won their only previous visit to FIU in 2007.
