Three-star WR Emmanuel Greene picks Central Florida over Maryland

Maryland has put together an impressive wide receiver corps in its Class of 2017, but coach DJ Durkin and the Terps missed out on adding another pass catcher to its class Friday afternoon.

Three-star IMG Academy (Fla.) wide receiver Emmanuel Greene announced he was committing to Central Florida over a group of schools that included Maryland, UCLA, West Virginia, Nebraska, Louisville and Texas A&M.

On Saturday evening, Greene announced his top seven schools on Twitter, which placed Maryland in the mix for his verbal pledge.

In the 247sports.com composite rankings, Greene is ranked as the No. 406 prospect in the nation, No. 54 prospect in Florida and No. 59 wide receiver in the country. 247sports.comRivals.com and Scout.com all rank him as a three-star prospect while ESPN has him as a four-star.

Earlier this spring, Maryland got two commitments from Greene's IMG Academy teammates in five-star defensive end Joshua Kaindoh and four-star defensive tackle Cam Spence, who has since transferred to St. John's (D.C.).

The Terps currently hold commitments from a trio of three-star wide receivers in MJ Jarrell of Timber Creek (Fla.), Sean Nelson of Langston Hughes (Ga.) and Carlos Carriere of Alpharetta (Ga.). They're also in the announced top 10s for three-star Michael Harley of St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) and four-star Tahj Capehart of Bishop Sullivan (Va.).
