Maryland announces series with Charlotte in 2022, 2023

Maryland will play a two-game series with Charlotte in 2022 and 2023, the school announced Tuesday.

The agreement had been previously reported by FBSchedules.com in early February.

The Terps will take on the 49ers in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 10, 2022 before hosting them in College Park a year later on Sept. 9, 2023.

Charlotte, a Conference USA member, went 2-10 in its inaugural season as a full member at the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2015. It started its football program in 2013, so Maryland has never played the 49ers in the sport.

Maryland announced a renewed series with former ACC foe Virginia Tech about a month ago. The Terps and Hokies will meet four years in a row, starting in 2026. Maryland also has a long-awaited home-and-home with Texas on the books for 2017 and 2018.

This fall, Maryland will face Howard, Florida International and Central Florida in its nonconference schedule, a slate that was ranked as one of the easiest in the country by ESPN.com.
