Women's lacrosse Game of the Week: No. 17 Colorado at No. 11 Stanford

No. 17 Colorado (9-4) at No. 11 Stanford (11-3)

When: Friday, 10 p.m.

Outlook: The inaugural Pac-12 regular-season championship likely will be decided in this game. With three games left, both teams are 6-1 in the Pac-12, the only conference in the country in which teams play each other twice. Colorado is aiming for the sweep. In the Pac-12 opener March 9, the Buffaloes rallied from a seven-goal deficit just before the half to beat Stanford, 18-16, in Boulder. The next week, Colorado lost at Southern California, 8-7, but the Trojans are out of contention at 5-4 in the Pac-12 with one game remaining. Darby Kiernan, who had six goals and two assists in the first meeting with Stanford, leads the Buffs with 42 goals and 18 assists. Goalie Julia Lisella, who ranks fifth in Division I with a .542 save percentage, had 16 saves in the first game. Stanford has won eight straight games since falling to Colorado, including two over the Trojans. Kelsey Murray leads Stanford with 38 goals and 27 assists. The Cardinal averages 16.14 goals per game — fifth in Division I — while Colorado gives up about half that many — 8.92, the eighth stingiest scoring defense in Division I.
