Here’s a look at some of the numbers that stood out in Division I women’s lacrosse over the past week.
4 — One-goal games involving Maryland Division I teams this weekend. Maryland and Loyola Maryland fell in overtime — the Terps, 16-15, to North Carolina and the Greyhounds, 17-16, to Florida. Johns Hopkins lost, 12-11, to Penn. Navy escaped a major upset in Ann Arbor with an 11-10 win over Michigan.
10 — Players who had goals and/or assists in each of Loyola Maryland’s first two games, including Saturday’s overtime loss to No. 6 Florida.
19.67 — Goals per game by Syracuse and Vanderbilt, the highest-scoring offenses in Division I. Towson (17.5) and Maryland (16.33) also rank in the top eight.
56 — Maryland had won 56 straight regular-season games before falling to North Carolina on Saturday. The Terps’ previous regular-season loss, in April 2014, was also to the Tar Heels. Maryland has lost only five games since the start of the 2013 season, and four of them have been to North Carolina.
