Inside Lacrosse women's poll and what's next for state teams (March 26)

After Maryland knocked off back-to-back undefeated teams last week, the Terps moved up to No. 3 in the Inside Lacrosse Cascade Division I women’s media poll Monday.

The only teams remaining unbeaten in Division I are ranked ahead of the defending national champions — No. 1 Stony Brook and No. 2 Boston College.

Maryland’s 15-12 win over then-No. 3 James Madison on Saturday, after beating then-No. 7 Penn, 13-7, on Thursday, pushed the Terps ahead of the Dukes, who dropped one spot.

Towson moved back into the top 10 after upsetting then-No. 6 Florida, 14-11, on Wednesday. The loss dropped the Gators to No. 8. That helped Loyola Maryland, which is on a six-game winning streak, moved up a spot to No. 8.

Navy remained No. 13.

Syracuse was the only team to tumble out of the top 10 as the Orange fell to unranked Notre Dame, 11-10 Saturday and dropped three spots to No. 12.

Maryland, Loyola, Towson and Navy have no ranked opponents scheduled until next week.

Maryland senior attacker Megan Whittle is The Baltimore Sun's women's lacrosse National Player of the Week for March 20, 2018, after leading the No. 3 Terps to victories over two previously unbeaten teams last week.
