Outlook: The Greyhounds return to the NCAA tournament after a year away and receive their first top-eight seed since 2012. Coming off a 17-10 loss to Navy in the Patriot League final, the Greyhounds received an at-large big while Fairfield automatically qualified by winning its third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship, 14-10, over Canisius. The Stags have never gotten past the first round. The Greyhounds, who played in the national final in 1997, reached the quarterfinals in 2015. The Greyhounds, whose RPI ranks 10th in Division I, have played a much tougher schedule than the Stags, 50th in RPI, who have not played a ranked team this season. This will be the teams' first meeting.
