In the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament last weekend, Lasota totaled 17 goals — just five short of the record for the entire tournament — to lead the Wildcats to the quarterfinals for the first time in three years. She broke the tournament single-game record with a career-high nine goals in Friday night’s 24-18 first-round victory over Richmond. She also contributed two assists. Sunday at No. 7-seed Towson, Lasota scored eight goals in a 21-17 win. She was 6-for-6 on free-position shots in the two games. Against the Tigers, she scored three times in a 5-0 run early in the second half that gave the Wildcats a 14-10 lead and proved to be the critical run in a game that had been tied seven times. She hit four free-position shots against the Tigers. A three-time All-Big Ten selection, Lasota leads the Wildcats with 70 goals and 18 assists. She has scored 25 goals in the past four games.
