The Baltimore Ride of the new United Women's Lacrosse League, a four-team semipro circuit, selected midfielder Katie Schwarzmann (Maryland, Century) with the first overall pick in the draft.

The Ride chose attacker Alex Aust (Maryland), defender Kristen Carr (Mercy) and attacker Brooke Griffin (Maryland, South River) in the next three rounds.

The Baltimore team will be coached by Loyola Maryland coach Jen Adams.

The league's other teams are the Philly Force, Long Island Sound and Boston Storm.

Regular-season games — May 28 through July 16 — and playoffs July 29-30 will be contested at or near major tournaments in the Northeast.
