The defending NCAA Division III men's lacrosse tournament champions Stevenson made a strong opening statement.
Four days after beating Albright by a goal to claim the Commonwealth Conference championship, the Mustangs (18-2) held Otterbein scoreless in the second half and won 18-4, Wednesday night, in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Stephen Banick gave Stevenson a 1-0 lead 15 seconds into the game. The Cardinals (12-5) responded with a 2-0 run. Stevenson answered with a 5-0 run for a 6-2 lead with 12:35 left in the first half.
Otterbein got another 2-0 run and Mike Sullivan scored its final goal with 1:56 left in the first half. Stevenson scored the next 12.
The Mustangs face Cabrini (17-1), a 9-8 winner over Mary Washington, in Saturday's second round.
Washington College 13, Eastern 6: The host Shoremen (16-1) broke open a one-goal game by outscoring the Eagles (14-5) by 9-3 in the second half of an NCAA Division III tournament first- round game.
Sid Looney had four goals for Washington College, which will host Lynchburg (17-4) in Saturday's second round.
The Hornets beat Sewanee, 25-4.
Bryant 9, Siena 8: The host Bulldogs (15-4) staged a second-half comeback to beat the Saints (11-6) in an NCAA Division I tournament play-in game.
Bryant trailed 4-3 at the half but opened the second half with a 3-0 run and never trailed again.
James Tucker and Shane Morrell each had two goals and an assist for the Bulldogs, who advanced to face No. 2 seed Syracuse (11-4) in Sunday's first-round game at 7:30p.m.
Air Force 13, Richmond 5: Five Spiders scored, but Richmond (6-11) fell to the host Falcons (11-5) in a Division I play-in game.
