Women's lacrosse roundup: No. 2 Terps top No. 11 Penn, 15-5, for 10th straight victory

The No. 2 Maryland women's lacrosse team used a strong first half to pick up its 10th win, toppling No. 11 Penn, 15-5, on Wednesday night.
Brooke Griffin (South River), Beth Glaros (Wilde Lake) and Bryn Boucher had hat tricks as Maryland (10-0) held an opponent to five or fewer goals for the fifth time this season.
Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week Kelly McPartland added five points on two goals and three assists. Taylor Cummings (McDonogh) and Zoe Stukenberg (Marriotts Ridge) each added two scores.
Griffin and Glaros scored goals in the first two minutes for a 2-0 Maryland lead. Glaros extended that to three with an assisted goal by McPartland with about 20minutes left in the period.
After a free-position goal by Cummings, Penn (4-2) managed to score at the 16:40 mark.
Maryland then went on a five-goal run, including two each by McPartland and Stukenberg, to stretch its advantage to 9-1 before a late Quakers goal made it a seven-goal game at the half.
No. 14 Navy 13, American 1: The visiting Mids (9-0, 3-0 Patriot League) extended their winning streak to 15, a tie for the longest in league history.
Loren Generi had four goals and two assists for Navy, which held the Eagles (2-7, 0-3) to four shots in the first half.
No. 16 Loyola maryland 16, Bucknell 5: Annie Thomas (John Carroll) had a career-high eight points (five goals, three assists) to lead the visiting Greyhounds (5-4, 2-0 Patriot League) past the Bison (0-8, 0-3).
Loyola's Marlee Paton had five points on four goals and one assist. Taryn VanThof added two goals.
