Dene' DiMartino scored three of her career-high-tying four goals in the second half Wednesday to lead No. 9 Johns Hopkins past visiting Boston University, 11-8.
The Blue Jays tied the school Division I record for wins to start the season with their eighth straight. The Terriers, who have yet to play a home game this season, fell to 1-5.
The first 40 minutes were tight until Hopkins strung together four straight goals to take a 10-6 lead with just over five minutes to play. With the game tied for the sixth time at 6, Jen Cook (McDonogh) scored her second free-position goal at 19:34 to start the 4-0 run. Less than two minutes later, Jenna Reifler (Roland Park) took a pass from Sammy Cermack and scored the first of her two goals.
After some end-to-end action, DiMartino scored to end a nearly seven-minute drought at the 10:02 mark for her fourth of the day. She dodged from the top and scored with four defenders surrounding her to push the lead to 9-6.
George Washington 18, Mount St. Mary's 8: The host Colonial (4-3) went on an 8-0 run in the first half and handed the Mount (1-5) its third straight loss.
