Live lacrosse roundup (March 3): No. 2 Maryland men fall in OT to No. 17 Notre Dame

Brian Willetts scored with 2:46 remaining in overtime to lift the No. 17 Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team to a 14-13 victory over visiting No. 2 Maryland on Sunday.

Trailing 11-7 with 7:16 remaining in third quarter, the Terps (5-1) rallied to tie the game at 13 with 16 seconds left on a goal Anthony DeMaio to send the game into overtime.

Brendan Gleason scored four goals and Willetts and Connor Morin each added three for the Fighting Irish (2-1).

Will Snider and Logan Wisnauskas (Boys’ Latin) each scored three goals and Jared Bernhardt and Kyle Long added two goals and two assists each for Maryland.

No. 2 Salisbury 18, Ohio Wesleyan 9: Corey Gwin scored seven goals to push No. 2 Salisbury to an 18-9 win over visiting Ohio Wesleyan (1-3) in Division III play. Tyler Snyder (Mount Saint Joseph) added three goals for the Sea Gulls (5-0).

State women

California 12, Mount St. Mary’s 9: California (3-4) outscored host Mount St. Mary’s 7-2 in the second half to earn a 12-9 victory. Zoe Hurlburt (Fallston) scored three goals to lead the Mountaineers (3-2).

Nation women

Stanford 15, No. 10 Stony Brook 12: A career-high six goals from Ali Baiocco and career-best 12 saves from Trudie Grattan led Stanford to a 15-12 victory over host No. 10 Stony Brook (2-2). The win marked the Cardinal’s first road victory over a top-10 opponent since 2015 as Stanford (4-1) swept its East Coast trip and won its fourth in a row. The win also halted Stony Brook’s 33-game home winning streak, dating to 2016.

No. 16 Duke 18, Elon 5: Olivia Jenner (McDonogh) scored four goals to help No. 16 Duke (5-1) secure an 18-5 win over host Elon (2-4).

No. 17 Southern California 16, Boston University 11: Sisters Kelsey Huff and Kaeli Huff each scored four goals to lift No. 17 Southern California (4-1) to a 16-11 victory over host Boston University (3-2).
