Outlook: This is the second time this season that the top two teams in the Cascade/Maverik media poll will clash with the then-No. 2 Fighting Irish knocking off then-No. 1 Syracuse, 13-12, in double overtime on March 28. Also at stake is the top seed in the ACC tournament and a semifinal date with No. 6 Duke (8-4, 1-3), while the loser will tangle with the Orange (8-2, 2-2) in the other semifinal. Can sophomore goalie Shane Doss and Notre Dame's No. 12 defense slow down senior attackman Jimmy Bitter and the Tar Heels' No. 4 offense?

No. 2 North Carolina women (12-2) at No. 3 Duke (13-1)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The Tar Heels have been No. 2 most of the season behind top-ranked Maryland. The winner will be the top seed in the ACC Tournament next week in Charlottesville, Va. Courtney Waite of the Tar Heels was ACC Defensive Player of the Week last week after gathering a career-high and a game-high six ground balls and causing three turnovers in a 15-8 win over then-No. 6 Syracuse last Saturday. Can Waite help slow down Duke senior Kerrin Maurer, who leads the Blue Devils in assists, points and draw controls and is second in goals?
