Sophomore Mia DeRuggiero (Sparrows Point) set a school record with nine assists Friday afternoon as the Blue Hens defeated Canisius, 16-9. DeRuggiero broke the 34-year-old mark previously set by Karen Emas in April 1984. ... Kierstyn Voiro scored the game-winner in triple overtime to lift visiting Lehigh (4-3) to a 9-8 victory over Mount St. Mary's (3-3). Mountain Hawks' Sondra Dickey scored the tying goal with 3:26 left in regulation. Carly Miller (Marriotts Ridge) had a hat trick for the Mount. ... Darby Kiernan scored five goals to help No. 15 Colorado (4-2, 1-0 Pac 12) win a come-from-behind 18-16 victory over No. 19 Stanford (4-3, 0-1). The Buffaloes went on a 6-0 run over the final 13 minutes, including a natural hat trick by Kiernan, to win. Maggie Nick had a game-high six goals for the Cardinal.

College baseball: Towson second baseman Dirk Masters drove in two runs in the Tigers' 5-2 loss to visiting Ohio. ... Maryland lost 7-3 to visiting Bryant.

Women's pro soccer: The Washington Spirit will host North Carolina at Evergreen SportsPlex in Leesburg, Va., tonight at 7:15 in the club's National Women's Soccer League preseason opener. It is the second year in a row that the Spirit have hosted the 22-time women's college soccer national champion Tar Heels for a preseason friendly at Evergreen Sportsplex. Washington defeated North Carolina, 5-0, in front of a sell-out crowd of 2,000 fans in 2017.

Men's pro soccer: D.C. United signed the United Soccer League's all-time goalscoring leader Dane Kelly via Major League Soccer's discovery process. The forward spent the 2017 USL season with Reno 1868 FC, scoring 18 goals on the way to becoming the league's Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot winner.
