The No. 18 Loyola Maryland women got off to a strong start, but the visiting Greyhounds quickly fell behind No. 6 Florida and ultimately lost, 11-8, on Tuesday in lacrosse.
Kara Burke (Dulaney) struck first to begin a 3-0 run by Loyola Maryland (1-3). The Gators (5-1) answered with a 5-0 run. The Greyhounds outscored Florida 3-2 over the next 14 minutes but trailed 7-6 at halftime.
Nicole Graziano (five goals) scored 39 seconds into the second half to give Florida an 8-6 lead. Loyola Maryland answered with a 2-0 run. Burke completed her hat trick during the run on a feed from Annie Thomas (John Carroll) with 25:52 left in the game for an 8-all score. Florida scored the last three goals to pull away.
Shannon Gilroy (two goals) became the Gators' all-time goal scorer with 204 career goals.
Navy 14, George Washington 3: After trading goals in the opening six minutes, the Mids (6-1) scored four straight and were never threatened again by the host Colonials (1-3).
The win is the fourth straight for Navy.
The Mids put together a seven-goal run that spanned both halves to put the game out of reach. Navy's Casey Browne had a hat trick and Annie Foky made four saves.
The Mids outshot George Washington 32-10.
Nation men
No. 6 Yale 11, St. John's 10, OT: Jeff Cimbalista scored the game-winner 14 seconds into overtime on an assist from Jonathan Reese as the Bulldogs (4-0) beat the host Red Storm (1-4).
The loss is the third straight for St.John's. Yale took control with a 4-0 run in the second quarter.
The Red Storm's Nick Heller scored the tying goal with 26 seconds left in regulation.
No. 11 Army 9, Rutgers 7: Connor Cooke and Shea Mullins scored two goals each to lead the Black Knights (5-1) past the host Scarlet Knights (2-4).
Army led 7-3 at halftime and held off a late Rutgers rally to win.
No. 16 Harvard 17, Quinnipiac 12: The host Crimson (2-1) found some momentum late in the game to upend the Bobcats (1-2).
Harvard's Joe Lang tied the score at 9 with 40 seconds left in the third quarter. The Crimson opened the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run as Ian Ardrey scored twice.
No. 18 Colgate at Hobart, ppd.: The game between the Raiders (4-0) and host Statesmen (2-1) has been postponed because of inclement weather. A makeup date has not been announced.
No. 20 Penn 9, Lafayette 6: Chris Moriarty had a hat trick to lead the Quakers (3-2) past the host Leopards (1-3).
Penn used a 3-0 run over the final 71/2 minutes to win.
Nation women
No. 4 Boston College 17, Holy Cross 6: Covie Stanwick (Notre Dame Prep) led a foursome of three-goal scorers as the Eagles (5-0) cruised past the host Crusaders (0-5).
In addition to Stanwick, Sarah Mannelly, Kate Weeks and Mikaela Rix each had three goals.
No. 8 Virginia 13, Harvard 9: Kelly Boyd (St. Paul's) scored a natural hat trick during a 5-0 run to close out the game as the host Cavaliers (3-2) beat the Crimson (1-1).
The game featured six ties, including a 5-5 score at halftime.
Harvard led by Marisa Romeo with a hat trick, got some traction in the second half, scoring the first three goals for an 8-5 lead. Virginia answered with a 3-0 run of its own.
