John Kelly (Calvert Hall) scored the game-winner with four seconds left to give the No. 12 Ohio State men's lacrosse team an 8-7 win over host Furman in the season opener for both teams Saturday.
The Paladins had tied the game at 7 on a goal with 33 seconds left. Furman won the ensuing faceoff, but Colin Chell (Boys' Latin) forced a turnover and picked up the ground ball to give the Buckeyes possession.
After a timeout, junior transfer Austin Shanks found Kelly, and his bounce shot made its way into the cage.
No. 8 North Carolina 20, Michigan 10: Chris Cloutier scored five goals to lead the host Tar Heels (1-0) past the Wolverines (0-1).
