A New York State Police investigator who also was working as a boys lacrosse coach has been arrested by the FBI on child pornography charges, multiple sources reported.
SeanMichael Pagano, 37, is being held without bail after his arraignment Thursday. He faces up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
Federal agents saw Pagano visit a website that distributes child pornography and download videos of young girls engaged in sexual acts, according to the reports. Pagano's attorney denied the allegations.
Pagano was hired last month as the assistant boys lacrosse coach by the Rocky Point school district on Long Island. He worked during the winter as a volunteer assistant, and this was his first season with the team. The district superintendent, Michael Ring, said Pagano is no longer in that role. A New York State Police spokesman said Pagano has been with the force since 2002 and has been suspended without pay.
Pagano served as head coach of the men's lacrosse club team at Briarcliffe College in Bethpage, N.Y., from 2009 to 2013.
