Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week (May 14): David Planning, Ohio State

(Ohio State athletics)

Alexandria, Va., senior midfielder

The Buckeyes ensured there will be a new NCAA Division I champion, and Planning played a significant role in Saturday's 16-11 win over No. 4 seed and 2013 and 2014 national titlist Duke. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Planning scored a career-high six goals and added an assist in that first-round game. He doubled his previous career best in goals set on March 14 in Ohio State's 13-11 upset of Denver, and his seven points exceeded his prior career high of five points in a 13-8 victory at Michigan on April 12. Planning, an eighth-round pick of the Major League Lacrosse's Ohio Machine, has already achieved career bests in goals (24), assists (16) and points (40).
