Cannizzaro didn't waste any time ingratiating himself with the Pioneer faithful. In his 2015 debut since transferring from Maryland, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound midfielder recorded eight points on three goals and five assists in top-ranked Denver's 17-13 victory against then-No. 3 and three-time reigning NCAA champion Duke on Saturday at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Cannizzaro, who compiled eight assists last spring for the Terps, registered all five helpers in the second half as the Pioneers finished with 13 assists. He also scored the goal that knotted the score at 12-12 90 seconds into the fourth quarter and then scored again 1:58 later to put the Pioneers ahead for good.
