Florida State, Florida extend contract for football series four years

The in-state rivalry between Florida State and Florida is thriving. The two schools announced Tuesday the Gators and Seminoles will continue to face off at the end of each regular season through at least 2022.

In addition to the four-year series extension, FSU and UF are keeping their traditional Thanksgiving weekend slot. They’ve played during the holiday weekend 32 times, including every year since 2005. FSU has a record of 17-14-1 in those matchups.

The teams will play in Gainesville on Nov. 30, 2019, and Nov. 27, 2021, and face each other in Doak Campbell Stadium on Nov. 28, 2020, and Nov. 26, 2022.

Florida State has won seven of the last nine games in the series, including a school-record four in a row in Gainesville.

The Seminoles dropped the most recent meeting between the two schools this past season. The 41-14 home loss kept FSU from qualifying for a bowl game.
