Big Ten Network names Francois McGillicuddy president, effective early 2019

Francois McGillicuddy has been named president of the Big Ten Network, succeeding Mark Silverman early next year, the Big Ten Conference and partner Fox Sports announced Monday.

Silverman had retained BTN’s presidency even as he was elevated to president of Fox Sports’ national networks in January.

McGillicuddy is the senior vice president and general manager of Fox Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio. But those are among the regional sports networks Walt Disney Co. is picking up in its deal for major 21st Century Fox assets that it promised to divest to appease regulators.

McGillicuddy has been with Fox Sports Ohio nearly six years. Previously he worked at Fox’s national cable channel SPEED, Cablevision Systems Corp., Rainbow Sports Networks and Madison Square Garden.

Silverman has overseen all aspects of BTN since its inception in 2007. HIs role as president of Fox Sports’ national networks includes oversight of all programming, production, marketing and digital for Fox Sports, FS1 and FS2 live events and studio shows.
